Si viaggiare

We're all going on a Summer holiday
No more working for a week or two
Fun and laughter on our Summer holiday
To make our dreams come true

We're going where the sun shines brightly
We're going where the sea is blue
We've seen it at the movies
Now let's see if it's true

Everybody has a Summer holiday
Doing things they always wanted too
Fun and laughter on our Summer holiday
To make our dreams come true
Just me and you
For a week or two !!
So sung Cliff Richard and The Shadows in the Sixties
Lucio Battisti sang si viaggiare
When you go on holiday from Britain to the sea you invariably go from a relatively cool climate towards the sun like in Cliff Richards' song . There is real excitement in travelling from  England to Spain or France or Italy . For me it was a magical journey. From the moment we got off the boat at Boulogne or Calais and saw all the pavement cafes with their bright umbrellas the air sizzled with excitement . Then there was the wonderful feeling of going South, of going on a journey that would take you somewhere quite different from where you started, to a place where people did things differently, spoke a different language, ate different food . Italy is sunny all over so when you set off on a Summer holiday you are already in flip- flops and shorts. It's still just as exciting though !
The quickest way to travel by car
is usually by motoreay and if you get hungry or thirsty you stop at the Autogrill .
Here is a poem about setting off on holiday in Italy.

Nell'autogrill si potrebbe essere
In qualunque parte del paese
Dal posto dove sei vuoi dei segnali
Devi guardare i prodotti regionali
Prima di tutto si mangiano panini
Poi compriamo una bottiglia di Bellini
Per brindare con i nuovi vicini
Guardiamo i CD degli anni cinquanta
Per dare allegria alla nostra vacanza
Vicino alla cassa c'è il dentifricio:
Forse no l'ho messo in valigia....
Ora mi sento raffreddata
Colpa del'aria condizionata
Di fazzoletti prendo un pacco
Neanche arrivati, ho già speso un sacco !
