Britain is covered with a network of footpaths. They take you along the edge of a field, through a shady wood, across a Common or on a safe path near a busy road. They are always well kept and you dont have any surprises like a house built across them . That happened to me once in Italy. The owner kindly said we were welcome to go through his house to rejoin the footpath.
Anyway even Shakespeare had something to say about footpaths.
Jog on, jog on, the footpath way,
