I like to move it, move it

It's official. Exercise is good for you.
Nobody seems to quite know why, but it is.
Even Winnie-the -Pooh, knew it. He had an exercise routine. He called them stoutness exercises..
The question is, to find the right exercise for you.
You have to be careful. In the 80s aerobics were all the rage. Fantastic! It seemed like it was disco dancing for aging bottle blonde bimbos. But then it was discovered, that all that jumping up and down, was bad for you. A whole generation of women were left with dodgy knees.
Marathon runners can end up with hip replacements for over-exercising. Ballet dancers can more easily get arthritis.
In surveys, the most physically fit people are usually manual labourers, farmers,  or people that are active in the course of their work.
It doesn't mean you have to have an expensive gym membership, but that you build exercise into your every day routine.
For years, I went to the gym with friends. This meant that I often spent a big part of the morning at the gym. One hour of exercise, half an hour sauna, half an hour hour chatting and having coffee with a friend. We never saw any natural light at all, and I would often go home feeling like I needed a walk in the fresh air.
I am not good at sport, the only thing I ever won was the sack race, for the non-sporty ones.
Dancing and walking are all I really enjoy.
The trick is to think how you want your body to move. Do you want to bend your knees? Then bend them, every day. Do you want to play on the floor with the children? Then make sure you are good at getting up from a sitting position.
Do you want to be able to run for the bus? Make sure you have lots of puff.
Housework is excellent exercise, I have a CD called Housework Songs, they are all very bouncy and happy, and really get you going with the vacuum cleaner.
Some people are naturally good at sport, and can get lots of exercise, cycling, playing football, volley ball, swimming or whatever.
For those who don't have time or are not sporty, the challenge is greater.
One easy way is to walk or cycle to work, take the lift instead of the stairs.
My favourite way to get moving is to put on some lively music.
When listening to music, my Mum would often say,"Oh this makes my foot tap", when there was a good beat.

We took my granddaughter to see "Madagascar 2". Her comments were more entertaining than the film. She loves the song "I like to move it, move it". Well I challenge you to listen to it and not tap your feet !!

For those who are not good at sport and don't want to join a gym, here is an easy exercise routine:

1 Touch your toes at least 10 times every morning.
2 Lie on your back on the floor and do the bicycle at least 20 times.
3 Simply jump up and down 50 times
4 clean your teeth standing on one leg
5 Pull in your stomach muscles, breathe deeply and stretch yourself up high, while sitting at your desk
6 walk as much as you can, heel first and then toe, from the hips.
7 cycle or walk to work avoiding heavy traffic, because that is very bad for you.
8 Enjoy the exercise, be aware of your joints, make sure they can move.
9 felx your fingers and toes, move your head gently from side to side.
10 Keep moving
I like to move, move it,
You like to move it, move it,
She like to move it, move it ...
