Every one of us will probably have their heart broken at some time or other. to have your heartbroken you must have given it to someone, you must have loved. In the song he is thinking about romantic love, but you can have your heart broken in so many ways and by so many people, family, friends and lovers.
Every time you love and lose your heart gets broken., even if it's your hamster passing on to a better life you still feel heart break.
