Favourite Lines for Midsummer day

Today is the 21st June, a magical day if ever there was one. Many people will start off with a salute to the sun, our wonderful sun that makes everything brighter. It's arguably the best day of the year to get up at dawn and to find time to admire the sunset, to walk in the countryside and breathe in the rich scents of the summer flowers, always more evocative at dusk, or in the town if you are lucky enough to pass near a lime tree you will find yourself inhaling deeply of its intoxicating perfume.

Here is the start of the speech by Oberon, the Fairy King, Act 2 Scene 1.

OBERON; I pray thee give it me,
I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk roses and with eglantine…

It's the part where he wants to put a lotion on Titania's eyes so she will fall in love with whoever she sees when she wakes.

Have a little midsummer magic today
